Knitting Abbreviations – Heavyweight Unisex T-shirt
A guide to knitting abbreviations. Just not the ones you’ll find in a pattern.
WIP. Frog. Lifeline. WTF. Every knitter knows that knitting has its own language and that the unofficial translations are often considerably more accurate.
This T-shirt collects some of my favourites, from “Will finish eventually. Probably.” to “This was right just now.” Wear it as a helpful reference guide, a warning to others, or proof that you’ve survived that row at least six times.
This is the heavyweight version, made from a more substantial cotton fabric with a classic, relaxed unisex fit. It feels thicker and more structured than the softer lightweight version.

SIZE GUIDE
These are measurements of the T-shirt itself, rather than body measurements. For the best comparison, measure a T-shirt you already own. Half chest is measured across the garment from armpit to armpit while it is laid flat.
| Size | Length | Half chest |
|---|---|---|
| S | 71.1 cm / 28 in | 45.7 cm / 18 in |
| M | 73.7 cm / 29 in | 50.8 cm / 20 in |
| L | 76.2 cm / 30 in | 55.9 cm / 22 in |
| XL | 78.7 cm / 31 in | 61 cm / 24 in |
| 2XL | 81.3 cm / 32 in | 66 cm / 26 in |
| 3XL | 83.8 cm / 33 in | 71.1 cm / 28 in |
| 4XL | 86.4 cm / 34 in | 76.2 cm / 30 in |
| 5XL | 88.9 cm / 35 in | 81.3 cm / 32 in |
Measurements are approximate and may vary slightly.
